Dog Days

I don't know if I've mentioned before that we have a dog, Bohdi. He's a four-year-old Bichon/Shih Tzu, and for the most part he's pretty laid back. He's actually a really good dog. It's just that lately he's been testing my nerves.

Part of the problem is that Bohdi has no qualms about begging and Gavin loves to feed him. So at meal times, Bohdi will park himself right by Gavin's chair and whenever Gavin feels like it, he'll throw food to Bohdi. It's worse now that Gavin is out of his high chair and in a booster, because when Bohdi stands up on his hind legs he can take food right out of Gavin's hand (he has no qualms about doing this either).

But because he's a dog, Bohdi thinks that food comes from the chair, whether Gavin is in it or not. This means that often Bohdi will go to the chair and bark at it, waiting for food. No matter how many times we go over and show him, he'll still bark and bark and bark. It is, as far as my experience goes, the most annoying thing I've ever had to deal with. I am thisclose to getting Bark Busters in to try to fix things (lifetime guarantee!)

Still, having Bohdi as part of our family sure adds to the excitement around our place. Like last night, when Gavin found a toothbrush in our bathroom. I thought it was Murray's, so I didn't think much of it. Then I noticed him putting it in his mouth, pretending to brush his teeth. I took it away from him, but I didn't think it was that big of a deal. A few minutes later I noticed that Gavin had found the toothbrush again and thrown it in the garbage can, the one with the dirty wipes in it. When Murray came home I told him that he would need to get a new toothbrush. That's when he told me that the toothbrush in question was the one he used to brush Bohdi's teeth. I suppose it could have been worse.

Update

So I know it looks like I'm slacking off on this blogging thing, but it's been a really busy month. We've had company every weekend and work's been crazy. I don't have time for much of an update right now...and truth be told I have much to blog about right now. Lots of the same old, same old.

I guess good bloggers have mostly ordinary lives anyway, but their talent lies in making them sound interesting. I guess I could talk about how the other morning, Gavin projectile vomited his breakfast all over the place, and we still managed to clean it up and get out of the house in time. Or about how we got all ready to go to ride Thomas the Train at Heritage Park last weekend and Gavin fell asleep almost as soon as we got on the train, never mind the fact that it was pouring rain almost the whole time.

Anyway, I have to run...he's getting into something and there are tears. Oh boy.
